This camera was bought for our 18 year old daughter and has been used extensively for recording her friends parties and nights out. As you would expect with a compact, with 10mp the results close up are excellent and combined with its sleek looks is a good present idea. However, be warned this is the third camera, the previous two developed sudden faults with the lense and shutter operations.
I would say that the last two cameras were bought from Amazon and their service and replacement policy cannot be beaten for speed and fairness. For any new people to the Amazon experience I would without hesitation receommend buying from them*****.

Having owned this camera for quite a while I feel that I am in a position to give my opinion. Unfortunately I am dissapointed with it and like some of the reviewers, the images for a 10 megapixel camera are not very good especially in low light conditions. Don't get me wrong. When the lighting conditions are perfect then it gives a very good picture, but in the real world, who carries a full lighting rig around so they can get decent pictures? I wanted a camera that I could use as a point and shoot as I did not want to be faffing around with loads of menus. Unfortunately this camera falls down here as well as you have to mess around with the settings to get it set up. Not very good when you want to capture the moment......

I didn't actually buy the camera on amazon and having read the reviews now I probably wouldnt have if i had just based my decision on these. However, a friend recommended a nikon so i chose this one. Its really compact and looks nice, not at all plasticy and tacky. Its easy to use first time and as you get used to it and read the manual lots of other settings reveal themselves, allowing you to take better pictures.
I take mine out everywhere, just pop it in a little neoprene case and in my pocket or bag. theres not even a scratch on it yet. The picture quality is good and the smile detection and image stabilisation is handy.
Overall, a really good, easy to use ,family friendly camera with all the right features.
