The Nikon D90 Camera fuses the science from Nikon's flagship digital SLRs with an array of sophisticated functions to help you get superior pictures.
The D90's 12.3 megapixel DX-format CMOS image sensor and EXPEED image processing system offer brilliant picture quality across a wide ISO light sensitivity range. Live View mode lets you compose and shoot via the high resolution 3-ins LCD monitor, and an advanced Scene Recognition System and autofocus performance help capture pictures with astounding accuracy.
You cam take movies in Motion JPEG format using the innovative D-Movie function. The Nikon D90 has a large image sensor which makes sure of exceptional movie image standard and dramatic effects can be created by shooting with a wide range of interchangeable NIKKOR lenses, from wide angle to macro to fisheye, or by changing the lens aperture and experimenting with depth of field. The Nikon D90 - designed to fuel your passion for photography.
An innovative idea for D-SLRs, the Nikon D90 camera offers a movie function, ehich lets you shoot movies in 3 different motion JPEG formats: 320 x 216 pixels, 640 x 424 pixels and 1,280 x 720 pixels. Now you can capture life's moving moments with added drama by using many of Nikon's NIKKOR lenses, including the AF DX Fisheye 10.5mm f/2.8G ED and the Micro-NIKKOR. The shallow depth of field can provide your film with a more creative and emotional feel. An extra benefit is the D90 image sensor, which is bigger than a typical camcorder for higher picture quality and exceptional high ISO performance during shooting in poor light.
When you are not sure which camera settings are appropriate, just rely on the Advanced Scene Modes. Simply turn the mode dial to the right icon: Portrait, Landscape, Close-up, Sports or Night Portrait. Unlike normal scene modes, the Nikon D90 will automatically optimize the exposure, Active D-Lighting, image processing, and picture control to get the most out of your subject matter. What is more, the D90 has exceptional low noise performance and accurately changes the camera levels whether VR (Vibration Reduction) is switched on or not, so expect beautiful, crisp images, even in many low light scenes.
The D90 demonstrates fantastic autofocus accuracy by utilising colour and brightness details from its 420-pixel RGB sensor. When taking pictures in Auto-area AF mode, the camera speedily focuses on the main subject by detecting background, foreground and subject position. When using 3D tracking (11 points) mode, the camera uses your subject's colour and brightness detail to keep it in clear focus as you change the composition.
The D90 incorporates a newly developed DX-format CMOS image sensor with technology coming straight from the D300, Nikon's DX-format flagship. With its 12.3 effective megapixels and incredibly high signal to noise ratio, the D90 camera delivers low-noise pictures with detail and tonal gradation beyond your expectations, while Nikon's Integrated Dust Reduction System works to free image-degrading dust particles off the sensor's optical low-pass filter.
Nikon's comprehensive EXPEED technology is engineered to make the most of the sensor's rich, 12.3-megapixel data. The result - colour, detail and high speed processing as in the groundbreaking D300. The D90's image processing engine produces high-resolution images at unbelievable speeds, better enabling high-speed continuous shooting. EXPEED also contributes to the outstanding performance of other strong features, including Live View and the new Face Detection System.
The D90 allows you the freedom to shoot in a remarkably wide range of lighting conditions, including dimly lit scenes, without having to worry about image-degrading noise. ISO can be raised as high as Hi 1 (ISO 6400 equivalent) or lowered to Lo 1 (ISO 100 equivalent).
Nikon's Picture Control System allows you to customize the look and mood of the pictures. Select from six settings: Standard, Neutral, Monochrome, Vivid and the recently added Portrait and Landscape. Try using the Quick Adjust* function to easily make extra adjustments according to your preferences and needs, then save the settings as Custom Picture Controls.
First brought in on the D3 and D300 flagship cameras, Nikon's innovative Scene Recognition System is also a feautre of the D90. This unique technology uses a 420-pixel RGB sensor to analyze immense amounts of scene and colour information so that it can understand what the camera is just going to shoot. Milliseconds before the release of the shutter, the camera optimizes the autofocus, auto exposure, i-TTL control and white balance. The D90 also uses Nikon's recent Face Detection System to render human faces with a new found sharpness and accuracy.
