A great little camera

I am fussy about my photographs and I wanted a quality camera which would give quality results but wouldn't be so heavy to carry around as my SLR. The Canon lens hasn't let me down. I hadn't realised how much control I could have with such a small camera. I am very pleased with this camera.

Reviewer: Fi,
absolutely fantastic buy. brilliant camera for the unprofessional photographer. great photos, loads of funtions, great quality. price was amazing. a present for my sister and she adores it. she has twin 2 year old boys and was desperate to be able to take good pics and also good videos and she has now! when i read reviews the only negatives were because of battery life. make sure you use different batteries to the ones that are supplied and then no problem. camera looks great too. one more thing which is a big one, the view finder is amazing - why haven't all digitals got this facility?!
Easy to use Canon with Viewfinder

My old Canon A710 was stolen during a break-in. I wanted another camera - for work and pleasure. It seems that Canon are still producing good quality cameras with viewfinders - very few manufacturers do nowadays. It arrived safely and was really easy to get started - batteries provided, but will replace with Eneloops when they run out. The card supplied was too small, so got a 4gb card for under a tenner. Now the camera - upgraded from the A710 - provides 12m pixels and 4 x optical zoom, which is enough for my needs. Plenty of software provided, plus usual manual on a disk, various leads etc. Very lightweight but still has the bulge at the side to grip with one hand (useful if you've got arthritis like me). Extra easy snap facility as well as the automatic picture taking. There's a good video on YouTube showing all the features - some of which you won't need, but others like macro, night time and faces which you probably will. A really good buy with Canon quality - make sure you get a carrying case for it, as it is a camera you will want to take everywhere, due to it's size and weight. Excellent for the price.
Fantastic

Reviewer: TeeDee,
I purchased two of these in June-2010, one for me and another for a family member.

My main reasons for purchasing the canon was that
I needed a camera with a viewfinder as I find screens are impossible to use on a bright day,
also I am not a fan of camera specific lithium batteries.

If the battery goes flat in the jungle (seaside) where do you charge it up?
With the canon you carry spare AA rechargeable or you can buy ordinary AA batteries anywhere.

I own three other digital cameras and the canon is by far the best for ease of use and picture quality.
The antishake works very well and it is possible to take nightime shots down to 1/5th of a second with no blurring.

The battery life is excellent but I do use it with the screen switched off.

The video is of usable quality and you can use the digital 4x zoom during shooting, and 4x optical zoom preset before shooting.

My only moan is the viewfinder; everything through it looks slightly blurred, that goes for both cameras, maybe it's my old eyes although with reading glasses on the viewfinder is pin sharp.

I am very satisfied with the canon and am now waiting for them to produce a similar model
(AA batteries, viewfinder) with HD video.

If this camera had HD video it would be the best camera ever for the price!
Very poor image quality

Reviewer: S. Rudden,
OK got one of these and the picture quality was so poor I thought it busted so returned it for replacement...the new one was just as bad!!!!!!

I have quite good experience of various camera's been digital since the giddy heights of 2MP at 400 pounds...steady on!!!

But seriously this camera is so grainy, fuzzy, soft in image quality, and yes I played around with all settings, I would strongly recommend getting something ells
